Costume Party Part One

Meet some of the new characters from the upcoming new film being shot this summer, Night of the Shadow People! We had a costume fitting and snapped some photos..

Left to Right: Hussein Juma as Punch, Charlotte Muller as The Lizard Girl, Randolph West as Beanstalk, and Rachael Amo-Mensah as Olesia. We will be doing some more costume tests in a couple weeks, so stay tuned for more cool pictures.

Our funding campaign has finished and I'm happy to announce that we made 130% of our goal!!! Allowing me to do things like have cool costumes and props and stuff that will make this the most exciting film I have ever made! Thank you so much to all to donors who helped out this film in massive ways.

Night of the Shadow People to start shooting in July!

My new film, Night of the Shadow People has finished casting, and is in full pre-production, with costumes, props and sets starting to be made. It is all very exciting.

Night of the Shadow People in pre-production!

The script to my new film has been completed. I am starting to cast people. It's happening right now. I plan to shoot it in August / September. The film takes place on another world, with evil people controlling the society, and unholy monsters in the vast alien forests, and robots, magicians and heroes... and a darkness that is coming to the planet that can't be stopped....

Film Review of “Imitative Magic” by Vahini Govender

Imitative Magic has a very large cast.
I enjoyed the colour tone of the film.
Nigel stood out, despite his minimal screen time.
Elaine’s vocals haunt this film.
I’m used to watching movies where people talk to ghosts.
I cringed when Cadence wore her boots on the bed.
The Chief of Police is a most memorable character.
I couldn’t hear the crazy masked guy very well in his first scene.
I wondered if Cadence and Bert fell off his bike after they rode off.
Cadence’s brother is so needed in this film.
The animation is so awesome.
I do not want to be like Bert’s parents.
My favourite scenes are the ones with The Mosquito.
There is some excellent creative editing in this film.
This film is nerdy and surrealistic.
It was good.
It was worth thinking about.

Imitative Magic - Nearly done shooting!

This has been a very long and awesome summer for making this movie. If you haven't heard anything about it yet, Imitative Magic is a new feature length film starring the ridiculous talents of Jorgie Krygier-Paine and Liam Gonzalez. It follows the adventures of Cadence, all around amazing woman, and member of the Calgary Beefart and Cheenkaw Appreciation Society.
Her two heroes, Beefart and Cheenkaw go missing right in the middle of a strange string of mysterious murders. No one seems to be able to find them, or stop the deaths from happening. That's when Cadence becomes increasingly fed up with people's inability to get up and take a stand for what's right. She takes it upon herself to not only find Beefart and Cheenkaw, but while at it, hopfully put an end to these bizarre killings. the only person who seems to want to help her is her mail man Bert. Who is behind the killings? How is the Ever Love retirement home involved? Will cadence's friends continue to write strange steamy Cheenkaw fan fiction? Will Cadence's brother ever stop complaining about the state of the music scene in Calgary? And why isn't Calgary's premiere superhero, The Mosquito helping out?

Mosquito Magic

Production has started on our upcoming film 'Imitative Magic!' As you can see, Calgary's greatest superhero, The Mosquito is back, and she's screwing around on the internet. To be fair, our next shooting date isn't for almost another month.. but it's exciting that things have started. You can see the Mosquito's last film by clicking HERE. Imitative Magic is about one of Beefart and Cheenkaw's biggest fans, and the lengths she will go through to help solve the mystery of their disappearance during a rash of murders in Calgary. It's kind of a love story .

Hello all. The Calgary Comic and Entertainment expo is now over, and it was a pretty unsuccessful year for us.. but whatever.. the good parts were being able to see some of our amazing friends, and some people we hardly ever get to hang out with. You people are amazing. We made a neat-o little film for the Expo's 48 hour film competition thing, that they didn't even show. But you can see it here right now!!

Starring as the sister in that film was the lovely and talented Jorgie Krygier-Paine who will be the star of our upcoming film 'Imitative Magic' that begins shooting this summer. Beefart and Cheenkaw have gone missing, right in the middle of a bizarre string of strange ritual like killings, and the only person who seems to be willing to do anything about it is official card carrying Beefart and Cheenkaw fan club member Cadence, who, along with bicycle riding postal carrier Bert, try to solve the mysteries that are unfolding in Calgary. Basically it's the first ever SC Entertainment love story.

In other news, a brand new fukachuk egg machine record that I have been working on is going to be released on May 2nd. The record is called Patterns and I just heard the whole thing finished from start to end last night for the first time. It would seem as though I was far more depressed when I wrote this album then I first even thought, but that's okay.. I'm feeling a lot better now and out of it came something that is pretty astounding. Possibly the most gut churning record I have done since Looking for Lizards in 2009. So basically when it comes out, download it and listen to it.. it would mean a lot to me.

Imitative Magic and Calgary Expo!

Hello! We are going to be shooting a brand new feature length film this summer called 'Imitative Magic' and it is going to be crazy rad. Our local heroes and super crime fighting monster hunters, Detectives Beefart and Cheenkaw have gone missing, right in the middle of a bizarre murder spree! And the Beefart and Cheenkaw appreciation society reacts in various ways. Some think there is nothing they can do, but one girl, Cadence isn't going to let her idols be lost who knows where while people in the city are being murdered! She takes it upon herself to find out what happened. Meanwhile, the postal worker who delivers all her Beefart and Cheenkaw fan girl stuff she buys from the internet ends up as her willing partner. The film is about how these two people become very close friends while solving this bizarre investigation! There is Egyptian Gods! Retirement homes! The Mosquito! Sleazy Fan Fiction! Basically, it will be the greatest supernatural horror comedy heart string puller of all time. And I would love it if you would help us out.

I will also be promoting the exciting new film that will be shot this summer 'Imitative Magic!' I am hard at work on a new script for this very exciting project. I had everything mostly done and ready to go when I realized I wasn't into it.. so I started again from scratch, and this time it is phenomenal! I will be looking to fill some important leading roles, and I will hopefully start some kind of

From an upcoming album that is in production now. It's a big deal.

New SC Film in early stages.

Embarrassingly, I haven't shot a proper feature length film since 2012. The good news is that since then I did piles of short films and a wildly popular animated series. But it is time once again for a new SC feature. I am now in the early stages of writing the script for this new movie, and I plan on shooting it this summer.. on weekends... for cheap. The traditional SC style. The film is called (at least for now) Imitative Magic. And isn't really like any film I have ever made. It follows the lives of 6 young people over the course of 5 days. They are all members of an internet message board / chat room for people in Calgary who are obsessed with the two Calgary paranormal investigators Beefart and Cheenkaw. The film isn't about Beefart and Cheenkaw though.. it's about these 6 people. Anyway, I've been working on it for a couple months now and I'm pretty excited about the whole thing. I will probably start up some sort of indiegogo campaign to raise money to help fund it.. but I think I will wait until the Calgary Entertainment Expo before I get that going. I will be looking for a bunch of actors for this one as well.. people who will be available on weekends this summer. I will get into all that later. Anyway, that's what I have been working on.
