SC Entertainment History - 1998

1998 was the year Die Spinne, and SC style punk rock unofficially kind of went into retirement... Don't get me wrong.. me, Terry and Scott would get together again in the future, but it was few and far between those shows, and they were nothing like they were in the 90's ever again. Die Spinne was playing shows quite regularly, and that year also was the dads with no face comeback special, where we played a load of old dads songs with no bass, the way dads used to do it... it was fun. 1998 was also SC's 15th anniversary, where we held a huge festival, kind of like we are doing this year for the 30th.. only we were 15 years younger back then and it was crazy mayhem.. EO played, Gorgo X 2, Die Spinne, Smoth, and I played a song on my own, which would be the first ever appearance of what would be Fukachuk Egg Machine.

I was completely going full force making SC Propaganda magazine, and mailing it out and handing it out to anyone who would take it. We also made 3 15th Anniversary compilation tapes that were produced in huge quantities, and given out to everyone (Strangely I can not find any of the original copies any more, and if anyone reading this has them, please let me make copies of them!)
Gorgo X 2 made another album, and with the live appearance at the 15th Anniversary celebrations, they were bigger than ever.
Shortly after the anniversary show, die spinne, for no particular reason, just kind of stopped playing... and never really played much again. there was no official break up or anything like that. I think we all just got far too busy far too quickly.
As far as SC film was concerned, we were continuing the barrage of short films we had started the previous year. To check out some of the very exciting artisitc things were were up to, check out this page:

But me and Terry still had music in us, and in another different little basement apartment I set up a recording studio in the laundry room. I had recently got fired from my job on account of I left the store to chase down the people who had just robbed me, and apparently it is against the rules to abandon the store for any reason (I'm not bitter about it any more.. I swear) anyway, so I would stay awake all night long every night and record stuff, and write songs, and during the day I would watch the kids. As you can imagine, I wrote a lot of songs about how much coffee I was drinking and other things... I was staying awake for days at

a time, and putting together the whole story of the Tree of Reason and all the things that went along with it that I started making up so many years ago with Dads with no Face. I was painting all the time and putting bits of the puzzle together. I had met my friend Vahini, who taught me a lot about the world I was living in, and at the end of all of this I had made 3 records in the span of about 5 months. They were called fukachuk egg machine, and I would continue telling these stories for
years and years and years.

While all this was happening, Terry was going through a similar spurt of singular creativity, and he would come to my little laundry room recording studio and make his own solo album called Leroy Dyes in Hell. All in all it was a very strange time, and everything about what we were doing with SC Entertainment kind of changed over night. The final thing that happened that year was I got on the internet for the very first time, I was new at it and had never done anything like it before, but my first task was to learn HTML and make a website for SC. Up until that point SC was always either called SC Music, SC Films, or SC Comics. With the new website I wanted to combine everything and make it all merge together somehow, so I changed the name to SC Entertainment. And one of the first things I did when I got on the internet and had established myself there was to make a whole web page with nothing but pictures of goats on it. Because lets face it, thats what the internet was made for.

SC Entertainment History - 1997

1997 was another busy year in the land of SC. The very first thing I did as 1997 started was put together the die spinne record 'World's most powerful psychics' It was die spinne at it's most hypnotic and included several exciting live tracks as well as some hypnotic instrumentals and other songs. Die Spinne were becoming more and more popular and were getting shows at local pubs and other places like the art college, though we were still playing almost every weekend at Scott's house.

I started up the mighty SC mailing list this year I think, and I was sending out newsletters all the time telling people about the ways of SC and how cool we were and how if they bought tapes and stuff from up how everyone on Earth's lives would be better. It is of little surprise that the SC Newsletter would eventually be called SC Propaganda. One of the newsletters I sent out included a compilation tape of live die spinne songs.. it was a pretty amazing tape, and showed people the true meaning of everything SC was at the time. It was called 'Suicide' and inexplicably had a picture of Terri Dennis on the front for no apparent reason other than she photographed well. Anyway, the tape was another hit. 

I was living in a tiny apartment which may have just been a storage room in the basement of a building that was turned in to an apartment.. at any rate it was awesome and there were mice and bugs and it was disgusting.. but it brought out a lot of creativity I think. That was where me and Terry one night, having very little sleep for a couple days decided to do some more EO songs.. these were classic amazing tracks.. and instead of making a new record (there wasn't really enough songs made that night to fill a whole album) we took off a couple of the songs from the 1994 freelance photographer album, and added on all these new songs and re-released freelance photographer as it stands today. There were a lot of weird nights like that in that place.

We were still randomly shooting bits of what would become Bo-Bo 6, but this year marked the start of a plethora of short films that we would make. Some people argue that these are the best things SC has ever done on video.. who knows, either way they were fun and strange.

We were all experimenting with solo projects that year as well. Terry and Paul formed Gorgo X 2, which was a sort of strange punk rock comedy band that had songs about either mean or disgusting topics... or just stuff that was bizarre, at any rate it gained a quick cult following, and we played it live several times.. Paul would often wear costumes on stage. Scott was busy creating his noise music project 'Smoth' which he is still involved with to this day. I would start experimenting with making music by myself under the name of DJ Fukachuk.

Die Spinne spent a good deal of the year making new songs as well and recording. By the years end we had released what would be our final album, Die Spinne Visit Zombie Island. It was hypnotic and punk and about monsters and other strange things, and was kind of the perfect Die Spinne album. Also by the end of the year I had daughter named Mikaela.. 

SC Entertainment History - 1996

The year started out with the Birth of Kelton.. who would end up being an amazing film maker in the distant future...


As you can see, I was occupied with a lot of things, and I didn't even have time to make a single film all year! I think that may have been the last time that ever happened. Paul was busy making his alien film 'Visions of Curiosity.' We did however make loads of music, and came out with a record called 'Pies' we also had a record called 'flashbulbs' which was basically just a live album, but it was awesome none the less. Below is the track 'Qwow' from the Pies record.. you can see we were turning into a sort of psychedelic hypnotic band.. it was kind of awesome at the shows. We moved our set-up permanently in to Scott's garage at this point, and we were still having tons of live shows. The year was mostly about music for me Terry and Scott.

One other thing I did was I made a very cool comic called 'Minehead' but that was one of the last comics I ever made. I have started stuff here and there since then, but I never really got in to it like had in the past ever again. This year (2013) is the first time I had put out a full length comic since then, and even then it was just a collection of one page comics I had been releasing on the internet.

Even though I never made any finished films, we all started writing and shooting scenes for various incarnations of Bo-Bo 6.. There were I think at least 5 scripts for it at any given time, and we would randomly just shoot stuff from them.. this went on for the next 5 years. Poor Bo-Bo 6.

SC Entertainment History - 1995

1995 was a strange year of changes for SC Entertainment. Though in the midst of all this change we still made some pretty astounding things, including probably the most memorable and well made Bo-Bo movie ever... the mighty Bo-Bo 5. It was a huge movie.. it was long and complicated with all sorts of special effects and various exotic locations, and it was also to be the last feature length film would would make for several years. But it was awesome, and is still one of my favourite films I ever made. Soon after Bo-Bo 5 Paul would start work on a variety of short films exploring his own mind, and our days as feature length horror film makers was  cut short.

Dads with no Face was to play their last show ever.. there was a lot of tension, and we eventually played a show without the new Terri on drums, it kind of caused a backlash and Dads with no Face was over. Our last ever recorded show was put on a cassette and called 'The crucifixion of Fluffy' it was kind of an awesome show. You can hear the last 7 minutes of Dads with no Face right here:




After Dads broke up there was a bit of a break and then me Terry and Scott got back together to form a new band 'Die Spinne' You would think that it's the same three guys, so the band would be basically the same.. but that wasn't the case at all.. the idea of it was totally different, and it showed. It was a much more mature band in a lot of ways. Terry wrote and sang more than half the songs this time, and scott was on bass. Before the year was over we has released 3 albums. 'Horney Nymphos,' 'Die Spinne Live,' and 'Meat Master' It was a strange time of starting to be grown ups, and most of our friends from the carefree days of dads with no face and Bo-Bo were off doing different things, even I was about to become a father for the first time.

SC Entertainment History - 1994

1994 was one of the busiest years in the history of SC Entertainment..

In Dads with no Face the first thing we did that year was make the Life Sucks movie, it was a sort of documentary concert film, and even though it may not seem like it looking back at it now, it was a huge effort to get it made. Shortly after the movie was made, me and Terry one day found Scott Johns in our practice area.. to this day we don't know how he got down there.. but we soon decided that he would be a part of Dads with no Face. And from that moment on we were the super loud 3 piece band we were destined to be. Our shows got more frequent and more out of control as the year went on, and at one point Terry was temporarily out of the band for excessive drug use.. or some other such punk rock thing. At any rate Terry was out, and Terri the girl was in as our new drummer. Me and Scott were just sort of playing guitars on the street, and she gave us a dollar, so she was in. We only played as me Scott and Terri the girl for one or two shows before Terry came back, but this time he was on bass, making us even louder, if that was possible.

There were other music projects happening that year as well. 1994 marked the year of the big EO comeback special, which was a new album and a concert. The album, Freelance Photographer, was not the version available today, as the new version also contains songs from another recording session that was done in 1997. But it was still ridiculous and good. Me and Terry just decided one night to record the whole album, kind of like the old days. The concert was also a success, and again after that EO would disappear for a few more years.

Also that year was the Paul Whittington Experience album.. which was a collection of bizarre songs by Paul and us all.. it was a predecessor to what would become Gorgo X 2 in a few years. 

In the world of SC Films we made Bo-Bo 4. which introduced us to Osiris and delved deeper in to the backstory of Bo-Bo and Rolf. The movie was made, and then we found out almost all the footage was unusable because of a camera malfunction, so we had to remake the whole thing again. We were rather disappointed at the time, but making the whole movie a second time definitely made it a better movie than it would have been.

This was also the year of Fowler Creek, which was our attempt at making some sort of soap opera. It ended up more of a weird comedy gangster thing that was just kind of amazing and cheap in so many ways. it became a big hit among our friends, and I was called Cheeko for many years after that.. and Terry is still called Leroy to this day.

Also that year me and Terry had decided we should start making comics again, so we spent loads of time working on them. I was making a new series of Stensor comics, that were actually just amazing genius comics.. Terry was doing the same with Exxon. I got up to about issue 13 of Stensor. Several years after that, during one of my many frequent house moves, the whole series I made went missing, and it has never been seen since. I am still pretty sad about it, they were the best comics I ever made. 

1994 was a lot of hanging out in basements and making new friends and partners in the world of SC.

SC Entertainment History - 1993

1993 marked SC's 10th Anniversary and it was celebrated with not one, but2 Bo-Bo movies. Bo-Bo 2 was pretty thrown together, and for some reason the quality was quite bad.. I blame having to edit on 2 VCRs and having to go back and forth over and over to add titles and special effects and sounds and stuff to the point where you could barely see the picture.. oh well, it also had a surprise startrek the next generation ending that quite honestly blew our friend's minds away. Bo-Bo 3 was a work of art, pure genius film, I even handed it in as an art project as school and got 100%.. not too bad. It also marked the invention of the greatest crime fighting heroes the world had ever known.. Beefart & Cheenkaw. They would be mainstays in the SC universe for the rest of time.



That year was also the year of Dads with no Face - Life Sucks, which was a concept about.. well life sucking. It was all about the tree of reason and all the other things that would go on to become the entire basis for fukachuk egg machine 5 years later. We were playing shows basically all the time.. every weekend was a drunken party in my basement and it was beautiful.

SC Entertainment History - 1992

A couple of amazing things happened in 1992... first, me and Terry got back together making music, and we called it 'Dads with no Face' and it was to begin the most amazing thing SC had ever done. We practiced new songs all the time, and made up tons of classic hits that we still play to this day, and we eventually started doing what we did best, play live for people. It would start a
tradition of playing live music almost every weekend for our friends, and who ever else wanted to show up and have a good time.

The other super amazing thing that happened was the first Bo-Bo film proper. It was a monster of a film as far as anything we had ever done before.. there were scripts and plans and we were so organized we could almost do anything. By this time Paul was on board to help with the movie, and his excitement coupled with me and Terry's vision of horror made this something we could be proud of. It set the template for ever movie we made after that, and it's ability to entertain fueled our need to continue this forever.
Bo-Bo showed us the way, and with a real band that had at least some credibility, and a film that tons of people were involved in SC was in a position to show the world (our neighborhood) a new futuristic vision of rock n' roll and horror.

SC Entertainment History - 1991

From my research a few important things happened in 1991.. first we made the
very last EO cassette (For a number of years anyway.) This one had a couple songs sung by Paul, and it's outrageous lyrics and over the top ridiculousness made it a strange sort of hit album.. I recall hearing it being played in people's cars passing by us... it was very silly.  After that, we played a live show at our friend Sean's birthday party, this was kind of the last thing EO did before parting ways.

After EO Terry went on to be in a band called Neighborhood Threat with a couple of his friends from school, and I went on to be in a band with Barrett Pedersen, Andrea Gammon, and Julie Kirsch called Original Deficiency. It was interesting being with new people for both of us, and I know my new band was kind of all consuming, the four of us spent every moment together, and hung out a lot.. and when we made music it was pretty bad. Though after new year's eve of 1991 Original Deficiency would break up.

SC Entertainment History - 1990

And then the 90's started. and it was to be the most exciting decade for SC for a lot of reasons...

EO was now experimenting with guitars and drums and would soon be morphing into a sound that was more like Dads with no Face was. There were 2 EO albums this year, Wheat farmer's cow, and Rabid Bunnies. Both were actually really popular around our school, and it was at the point where people were requesting that we made them copies of our tapes.

We were making a ton of videos for our songs (above you can see the kind of ridiculous things we were doing,) and continuing with the Halloween Horror saga. Halloween Horror Part 2 came out this year, and was kind of a random mess of various scenes we had shot.
I think it was around this time we first started hanging out with Paul Whittington, who would soon add to the mayhem of SC Films.

SC Entertainment History - 1989

If 1987 was the start of SC films, then 1989 was the year that we organized ourselves as a film making force of nature. And I will be honest, I can't remember where we got the video camera, I know sometimes we signed one out of the library at school, but regardless of where the cameras came from, we were using them, and writing tons of scripts and ideas down. We made the amazing, though now lost forever TV series 'Johnny Mischief' which to this day remains as one of the best names for anything we ever came up with. It was about a time travelling kind of drunk who ends up on a planet where the only person left alive is Julie Kirsch on account of everyone there has rigamortis, luckily Johnny Mischief has a picture of Blaise with an afro in his pocket and that is the formula to save everyone. We also made and have since lost the film 'Dimensions of Death.' The name thankfully was recycled in the 2011 film starring Beefart & Cheenkaw. Anyway, the most important thing we did was to make the very first Bo-Bo movie, though his name was Tommy, and he was trying to get revenge on his kid brother Tim because Tim at one point interrupted some kind of satanic ritual Tommy was doing... anyway, the mask was the same, and there was a lot of killing. It was called Halloween Horror, it is extremely bizarre (and / or boring), and you can watch it here:





Eo was having a great year with the release of 'Carbonated Mustard' and 'Neon Bells' both electronic double albums by me and Terry. There were also some re-mix albums, and a side project called 'Johnny and the Church Burners' which was a sort of Soft Cell cover band thing, but it was also a lot more.

 

There were still comics being made, but we were starting to focus on magazines more, things that went along with our horror movie ideas. I believe the last issue of the original series of Stensor comics was this year. We were about to go to high school, and everything would get a lot more seriously stupid after that.

SC Entertainment History - 1988

1988 was SC's 5th Anniversary, and it looked like this picture.. we even wore ties to celebrate the occasion.. it looks as though Terry was far too punkrock to join the celebrations that year, or more likely me and Ryan were annoying him too much.

Another amazing year of comic making happened, and my main superhero 'Stensor' grew in to a more complex character after issue 10 of his original series. Mr.Ice Cube's secret origins were finally revealed and Trevor continued to make comics and send them to me through the mail.




In the land of the Electric Oinks, me and Ryan made a few insane records, such as "Mutated Dog" which was to be the first in a long line of electronic 'synth' albums, and the double album 'Cat is Psycho' which was random and scary, but included the song Fluffy, which would be played for years and years to come. That concluded the trilogy of the Blaise and Ryan version of EO.. and that year the first album from the final version of EO with Blaise and Terry in control, was released. The mighty 'Arachnid' which was an electronic masterpiece (made by 12 and 13 year olds.)

SC Entertainment History - 1987

Hooray! We have reached 1987! You see, 1987 was the year SC Films started.. and it was all due to the fact that my very cool brother Lafe worked all summer long to pay for the rental of a top of the line 8mm video camera from the video rental kings at Granada. He was making two epic low budget feature length films, but while he was at work every day, and actually most evenings, me and Terry were sneaky using this video camera to make our own films. We made probably 100 films that summer, and I even started doing my very first stop motion animations.. which was quite a huge task on that video camera.. click the button twice really fast, then press play, go back like 6 frames, go back to camera mode... for each frame... We made a ton of horror movies, because we were at this point deeply obsessed with all kinds of slasher films. Here is a trailer from 'The Sleepover' which was basically Terry in a Jason mask killing his friends at a sleepover. Please note my ultra cool home made SC Comics T-Shirt, and probably the greatest bathroom death scene in the history of the world.

Also enter the era of Blaise and Ryan's version of the Electric Oinks. It was crazy, screaming, bizarre subject matter, and hilarious. Actually everything that I did with Ryan Terlaak was either hilarious, or offensive in some kind of fantastic way. Our first EO album together was 'Babies with 9 heads'

The amount of comic production this year was probably the greatest of all time as well, and included like 30 issues of SC Magazine, that me and Terry banged out in one strange night. Anyway, SC was having a very good year indeed.

SC Entertainment History - 1986

In 1986 we again were making crazy amounts of comics, and also having a rivalry with another comic group in the school, Laser comics.. one of our members took off and started it up, however it was short lived and in the end SC triumphed over all. Trevor moved away but continued the SC ways out on the west coast, and in the land of EO, I made a pretty complicated record, using tons of over dubs and echo and strange stuff, it was called 'My Larynx got ripped out by a Puma' and it was the last EO album I was to ever make alone.  On August 27th 1986 we had our first SC Anniversary celebration for our 3 years of existence, I recall doing some 'blaise' dancing in my basement.. it's kind of like break dancing, only it looks more like an epileptic fit.

SC Entertainment History - 1985

1985 was basically a massive year of making comics and expanding the mighty SC empire.. people like Trevor Phillips and Barrett Pedersen were in my basement on a daily basis slaving away making comics under the SC name. EO was continuing. though I believe it was mostly just me making the tapes at this point. I also recall trying to start up a new band with some other people that was called The Leather Teddy Bears... Sounds kind of like gay erotica at this point, but back when were were like 9, it really didn't. Me and Terry invented our staple superheroes Stensor and Exxon.
