Twenty Two

Today, August 27th 2005, is the day that SC Entertainment turns 22 years old. 22 is pretty freaking old if you ask me. But it is all still very worth it. SC has changed considerably over the years. When it started in 1983 it was just a name that me and Terry used on the front of the comic books we made, we came up with the name together, super cool comics. And it wasn’t until a year later that it became the abbreviation SC. SC Music was put on the side of the first Electric Oinks tape that me and my friend Clayton made, and then it wasn’t until a very strange summer in 1987 when SC Films was created. The first film ever made was the adventures of Brenda it was half stop motion and half puppet.. and very odd.. and now lost forever. SC in it’s prime was composed of many, many people all doing brilliant things under the name. We have all made music, and written comics, and magazines, and made movies and done a million different things over the years… SC is something to be proud of. These days all the main people involved, such as me, Terry, Paul, and Scott are mostly off doing our own things. Paul has been very successful under the name Carrot Kid Creations, and continues to amaze everyone who gets a chance to see his work. Scott is off in BC doing who knows what.. but I’m sure it is amazing. And Terry.. well Terry still lives down the street from me, and we still get as excited as we did 22 years ago about making something new. It is mostly just excitement and not as much gets done these days. It is hard sometimes to get the team together when we are all ‘adults’ and we have things to worry about like paying rent and feeding the kids. I suppose that’s why SC is mostly just me now… I make most everything on my own, mostly because it is easier to get me to do what I want, than it is to get anyone else to help. I know this last year I have been trying to do too much. At least in the music area. I think I have released 3 different fukachuk egg machine records, plus everything I have done with Elaine. I don’t know if I am just scared of running out of time before I get to say everything I want to or what, but even I think I have done too much. And on top of it, it is all very weird and it would take another five years just to try to explain exactly what it is I am trying to say with my music. Perhaps I have really just lost my mind. But probably not. At any rate, SC has always been about creativity, and trying to give people a good time, and I think we are still doing that.. perhaps not the same as it was in the early 90’s when it was all about the show. Even though those were some of the best times in my life, I don’t think anyone could do that forever. Anyway, the message is different now… and also exactly the same.

The Bo-Bo 5 tenth anniversary DVD is now complete. If you would like one please write me an e-mail and we shall discuss. It has been completely re-mastered from the original footage from 1994 - 1995 and re-edited. It includes never before seen footage, all new special effects and a new original score. The DVD also includes the 15 minute documentary "The making of Bo-Bo 5" with brand new interviews from the Writer / Directors Blaise Kolodychuk and Paul Whittington, deleted scenes, alternate scenes with different actors and more.

Also as you can see there are a bunch of new downloads including Bo-Bo 5.. if you wanna check it out.. and the soundtracks to Phaedra's Room, and School of the Dead. After a slew of requests, the Near Jennifer series is back as well.

I have also been working on creating sock puppets... we will see where that takes me.

So on Wednesday, April 27th there will be a screening at the Uptown Theater of stuff that was done by my class at school this year.. So you should all come check it out, be there at 6:30
Included in the screening will be "Phaedra's Room" which I wrote and Directed.
also included is Hussein Juma's "School of the Dead", and Leanne Graham's "Urban Canvas" plus a bunch of other worthwhile fare.. it is free to get in, but make sure you come early, as seats go fast.

I have also been asked to play live.. as fukachuk egg machine, at the Calgary Asian Film Festival.. I am well aware that I am not Asian.. but that's okay. At any rate I am starting production on a new fukachuk movie that will be projected during this live show... I start filming tomorrow, it will star my friend Vahini Govender as Mary Kettle. I will be playing at the Calgary Science Center, on the 20th or the 21st... I will update when I have a confirmed date...

The Bo-Bo 5 DVD is done, but I am having a hell of a time actually burning it... I don't know why but it crashes everytime it gets to like 97% done... i will keep working on that i guess.

I am doing the score to the film "School of the Dead" on which I was the first assistant director... It will be playing with my film, "Phaedra's Room" on April 27th at the Uptown Theater.

When I have a chance I will post some of the "Making of Bo-Bo 5" Documentary I have been working on.. with all new interviews with myself, and Paul Whittington, as well as plenty of behind the scenes footage.

Fukachuk Egg Machine will be playing live at the Calgary Asian Film Festival, Friday, May 20th at 10:45pm. It will be held at The Telus world of Science Centre, formerly known as the Calgary Science Centre. It is located at 701 11th street SW. The performance that night is called "The Tragedy of Mary Kettle" and the live music will be accompanied by the film of the same name. I believe tickets are $10.00 for the night. After the show they will be screening "Rotten Shaolin Zombies" and "School of the Dead" which I did the score for. So come check it all out if you can..

But, no, this isn't fukachuk egg machine. I don't know what it is. it's not the giant killer robot stuff I was working on... as far as I can tell it is me being fed up with everything and just making the music I really want to, without being at all worried that anyone else will like it. But I still hope you like it, cuz I do...

What I have for you, dear readers, is quite the treat. I have been working on a brand new animated series, and the first episode is done. The show is called "Marble Street Note Book" and follows the lives of Simon and Sindy as they make their ways through the city, the forest and beyond... The men in the black coats don't like Simon very much... and they will stop at nothing to send him away... also featuring the frog man.

The final Episode of What The Bunny Saw is now available for download... Okay... so this one isn't animated... but it was the only logical end after the epic episode 3... Now that The Bunny Show is finished, what the hell are we going to do??? I need to entice you all back here month after month somehow. And lets face it, the Cindy Mae comic is freaking cool.. but it doesn't move. I will have to do something drastic to keep your loyal readership. Happy election day to all the Americans who worship at the golden cow which is SC Entertainment... Any way.. I just wanted to make sure all you Americans go out and vote for John Kerry... Now I don't even particularly like John Kerry.. but the alternative is probably the most evil, and stupid man I have seen in political power in a very long time. And quite honestly, if Bush wins I will be scared for my life... so please drag grandma out of the home, and load up your busses with registered homeless people... and vote that psycho out of office...

Sorry to get all political... but it is sort of important.
